The Rialto Bridge The Highland Italian Circle

Circolo Italo-Scozzese dell'Alta Scozia

Who are we?

The society was formed in Inverness by a group of enthusiasts in 1973 in an attempt to fill a need which was felt for an organisation to foster the Italian language and culture, as well as to promote friendship between the Highlands and Italy.

Since then, the Highland Italian Circle has continued to develop and is now one of the strongest organisations of its kind in the country. Its success is partly due to the fact it has been able to rely on its own resources for the varied programmes offered at our monthly meetings and partly because of the friendly and enthusiastic support of the Highland community, especially Inverness.

Many visiting tourists who have lost their passports, lost their way or, tragically, suffered car accidents on our unfamiliar roads, have expressed their gratitude to members of the Italian Circle for their help and support during their times of trouble.

You don't have to be Italian or speak Italian to join us - all we ask is an interest in Italy or things Italian, be it art, music, wine, food, films or holidays!

Meeting once a month from October to March, we enjoy illustrated talks from guest speakers from all over the country and here in Inverness we love to celebrate Christmas, New Year, or "Carnevale" in the best Highland-Italian way!

So, if you love Italy and the Highlands, please come and join us!
